When you outsource your consumer goods, you outsource your manufacturing recession. Take a look at changes in port activity and trade balances exclusive of oil. We might not technically be in recession yet (of course, that may change when the final revisions to the numbers are done months after the fact) but there is a very real shift in consumption patterns.
