“Frankly you are the picture of the kind of individual whose lack of compassion and inability to see passed his own pigeonhole is what makes the situation what it is.”
And it is your attitude of entitlement and accusation that turns off people who would be otherwise inclined to support you.
“I am not tired, I’m DISGUSTED by self-centered people who cannot expand their thinking and vision passed the teensy little boxes that they’ve carved out for themselves and chosen to live in.”
Sounds an awful lot like you my dear.
You resolutely refuse to view this from an American perspective. We will most certainly suffer casualties should we to take military action against Iran. Our men and women will DIE. That apparently means NOTHING to you.
The American people have experienced this situation before, with Iraq. Iraqi expatriates and even voices living under the Baathist regime cried for us to depose Hussein when President Bush started pressing Iraq to meet the terms of the cease fire agreement, while they did litte more than call us to action themselves. We had ample cause to take down Saddam because of his treaty violations (a condition that does not currently exist with Iran), but the idea of liberating Iraq from a murderous dictator and bringing the freedoms that we enjoy to others certainly helped “sell” the war to us. Now Iraq is in a state of near anarchy and few Iraqis are standing up to try and make a difference. America cast its lot in Iraq and now we MUST stay there until we bring what we have promised, but we are getting precious little help from the Iraqi people in that pursuit.
Now that pressure on the Iranian regime is being increased, the Iranian dissidents are coming out, demanding military intervention while they do nothing but talk themselves, just as the Iraqis did. Except this time, we really don’t have a mandate, or any other (legal) cause to depose the mullahs. We only have the word of a few people like you. What happens when we do all the heavy lifting (and dying)? Will you stand up and do something substantive?
If you had actually read my posts, you would have noticed that I am supportive of providing military aid, SHOULD YOU AND YOUR COUNTRYMEN DO MORE THAN JUST TALK and start taking decisive action. I refuse to see our experience in Iraq expanded and to that end I’m not going to support intervention in Iran until the Iranian people themselves stand up, and I’m going to make sure my representatives know this. If you have a problem with that, tough.
Ardeshir,
You tried.
