There are two facts that you need to deal with:
1) Jesus’ Disciples, and their disciples for many generations over hundreds of years, didn’t use violence at all to spread Christianity. But Muhammad’s disciples (the Companions of the Prophet) offensively invaded, conquered & culturally hegemonised tons of surrounding nations that hadn’t attacked Muslims such as Armenians, Spaniards, Copts, Persians & Byzantines. Muslims were more violent than Christians from the beginning.
2) Even today, Islam causes more violence than any other religion.

“This article examines…on the basis of a dataset derived from the Uppsala Conflict Data Project….on the basis of a dataset derived from the Uppsala Conflict Data Project…The majority of intercivilizational conflict-years during the post-Cold War period have involved Islamic groups.” (485).
“Regarding the warfare between civilizations, the Islamic civilization remains the most conflict-prone. During the Cold War period, the intercivilizational conflict-years involving Islamic groups constituted 27.8% of all conflict-years and during the post-Cold War period 25.4%. The number of conflict-years within the Islamic civilization rose from 12.6% to 22.5% likewise” (495).
“But the strife between the Islam and the West remains marginal (3.5% of all conflict- years)… These results are consistent with the findings of Fox (2001), Russett, Oneal & Cox (2000), de Soysa (2002), and Roeder (2003) suggesting that ‘the Islamic civilization is not conflicting in particular with the West’” (496).
