- Naturally, such dismal statistics got fair media play as 2009 wound to a close.
I guess the definition of fair must vary from one latitude to the next.
I don’t recall any fair discussion in the media covering the ridiculous and completely discredited predictions made by BHO and his incompetent economics advisers in support of the deficit-exploding Spendulu$. To the media, it’s as if justification for the Spendulu$ never happened. Had the “Bush” tax cuts resulted in miscalculations that enormous, and debt that devastating, the facts would have been front page news on every Left Wing Media rag in the nation for six months. Likewise, the casualties we’re now seeing in Afghanistan would be sharing those headlines just like the Daily Body Counts and “grim milestones” we saw every day of the week back in late 2003, 2004, etc.
I also don’t recall the media pointing out the fact that the unemployment figures reported publicly DO NOT include the folks you mentioned (accidental part-timers, early retirees, generally disgusted), PLUS those still looking for work but whose unemployment benefits have finally run out. That total number has been closer to 20% for some time now. These are Depression-era figures that the media DARE not address for fear of soiling Captain Wonderful’s polyester cape.
The word “fair” can not be found in The Left Wing Media’s dictionary.
- …sadly, our chief executive has job security until at least 2012.
That’s not strictly true, which points to what’s MISSING from this YAWNICOO* article, the likes of which seem to pervade this site and way too many others.
What’s missing here is what to do about it. By all indications, November is going to bring a sea change to Congress, at least with respect to political party. The People know this and the Democrats know this. Two things need to happen between now and then.
First, those Republicans who intend to displace the career criminals in Congress need to be instructed in no uncertain terms that the People will NOT tolerate another “compassionate conservative” experiment that pushes us further toward Socialism, albeit more slowly, like we saw during 2001-2006. We need a 1997 Republican-Congress-On-Steroids to get this economy moving again: if necessary, REPEAL ANY socialized medicine legislation rammed through by P-O-R, cut taxes, slash entitlement spending, privatize Medicare, ratchet back Homeland Security and redirect it to controlling illegal immigration, subsidize health care self-insurance (and start taxing cost-ratcheting comprehensive, group insurance), dissolve the GSEs. Put the economy of this Republic back in the hands of the Market and the People and take it OUT of the hands of government bureaucracy.
Second, those Democrats who are temporarily “safe” need to know that the PEOPLE know that the actions taken by this administration and the so-called Democrat “leadership” have been WAY over the line in terms of abuse of their Constitutional authority. Impeachable? Maybe not, but I stress maybe. Either way, they need to understand that continued support of this marxist cipher and his fascist agenda will lead to their expulsion from Congress – one way or the other, preferably the other, setting legal precedents, so that no one gets the idea they can just wait a few years for public sentiment to swing back to the left again.
BHO is a tool. Utterly lacking in required experience. Risen far beyond his level of incompetence. Derelict in his duties (as if he ever had a clue what those were). Yeah, we get all that already! Finding new and exciting ways to whine about it day after day after day will have the same effect it did when the Romans whined about Nero (great referent he – the quintessential narcissist). Had their TEA Party’s tax revolt begun sooner, history might have been very different indeed. Let’s not REPEAT their mistake.
