“I don’t think John Samford and Redman are being unreasonable, but their smug “matter of fact” approach belies a complex situation. “Your people set them up, so you take them out, and then we’ll help you” Well, maybe they’re responsible for that. But if the Iranians enjoyed that kind of power in the first place, the author would not have written this letter, or ask Americans to take the right course on Iran.”
When a nation in its fervor to replace a tin-pot dictator, places an even more pernicious megalomaniac in his (or her) place the U.S. should send her boys over there to sort it out??? What are we, global baby-sitters?
You know, I’m all for helping people attain true freedom, but putting America in the position of sole opposition to world totalitarianism has made us a huge target that plenty of people, including the little pissants who live under the warm blanket of our protection (Europeans, looking at you guys) hurl crap (AND bombs) at.
I’ve never been described as smug before. Huh. Maybe I’m moving up in the world.
BTW, I’m not in agreement with John Samford, my first post should be indicative of that. He is wholly opposed to American military action, I’m not. I’m just holding out for the Iranians to “start the fire.”
