that quote smelled bogus to me. It sounds like someting a moustache twirling villian would say in a bad novel,
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under
the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist
program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without
knowing how it happened”,
“and the next day…….THE WORLD!”
Sure enough the trail goes cold once it is traced back as far as Ronald Reagan. It was something that he attributed to Norman Mattoon Thomas, but noone knows whete he got it from.
