Very good article but I would add that not only is it about boys (let be honest here, these are not Men, with a capital M) who want to live out their vioent sociopathic fantasies, but I think there is also an element of a hero complex. What a way to become a somebody! Look at Osama, he’s one of what a gazillion siblings? A wealthy guy to boot, but in a country with more than a few wealthy people. How frustrating to be so undistinguished. So the small fish in a big pond went over to a small pond in Aghanistan and became a big fish. A few of these Americans turned traitors certainly have made themselves famous at least in their own little minds.
