The initial assertion is wrong. The data is put forth not for the purpose of denying an ethnic minority equal protection of the Constitution. That wouldn’t be a reasonable goal of the left in America. The argument is to use the data to show that the Black community bears the unequal burden of guns in America and in order to mitigate that injustice we ALL must give up guns.
To simply deny gun ownership to African-Americans wouldn’t cure the problem. It would be like outlawing guns in Washington DC or Chicago or NYC. The guns would flow into the Black community from outside. Therefore the irrefutable conclusion would be that we should choose to outlaw all gun ownership by all Americans for the good of the minority community.
Too many would find it too easy to agree with the simple solution of taking guns out of the Black community. No, the pernicious plan is to disarm all of us.
