“reagan himself would be far too liberal for the tea partiers of today”… have you been listening to any of his old speeches? He did a lot of practical cross-aisle work, to be sure, given he had a lib congress the whole time.. but man, RR was a seriously principled conservative! Listen to what he said about health care being the entree for socialists to take over! He might as well have been speaking this week instead of 50 years ago…

at any rate, if RR is too lib for today’s tea partiers (I so stipulate for discussion but do not agree), then JFK would be way way too CONSERVATIVE for today’s— REPUBLICAN party.

As a modern Democrat, JFK would be run out of town on a RAIL… if Stupak is ‘the most hated man in Washington’ because he happens to oppose taxpayer funded abortion but is liberal in all other respects, imagine how hated JFK would be! He was a pro-growth tax cutter who was reluctant to ask the Senate for a civil rights bill!
