My son’s best friend for the past seven years is Muslim. He plays at their home frequently. Two weeks ago, for the first time, I saw the hatred in his mother’s eyes and facial expression. It happened that I was picking up my son as one of her friends arrived. They spoke in Farsi about me and as I glanced back, I saw her face. There is a veneer, even among those we have given our friendship. Beware.
