Dark Helmet – ludacris speed, go! Seriously, The Asia Times columnist already recommended Putin for President of the U.S. in 2008:

Re: Samford “The USA will win another cold war for the same reasons it won the last one.” there isn’t going to be another Cold War, because the U.S. is going bankrupt and we can’t borrow the money from the Chinese we need to fight them AND the Russians at the same time. You’re forgetting Beijing wasn’t also a big fan of the missile defense shield which to actually work would require militarizing outer space. And they’re the ones buying half the U.S. Treasuries. So unless you want to slash that $600 billion defense budget in half overnight and gut all entitlements and have unemployed Obamaville camps in front of Capitol Hill, forget about borrowing the cash America needs to keep fighting these wars AND a new Cold War between Oceania and Eurasia plus all the domestic bailouts/Hope and Changey stuff. The money just doesn’t exist to do it.

And Lefroy, I’ll specifically say the claim about the Nordstream being an evil Molotov-Ribbentropp 2 scheme to enslave Eastern Europe while keeping Germany warm is a joke. Ukraine can’t pay its gas bills because it’s a failing state with perpetually squabbling politicians that depended on cheap gas to subsidize its steel exports, with worse demographics than Russia. Belarus cannot convert itself overnight from alleged Kremlin puppet to victim of evil Russian energy imperialism simply because it can’t pay its oil and gas bills either.

The Jamestown Foundation which pays Zigfeld to spout this Cold War drivel is going to run out of money any day now when their senile donors pass away or find out the year is no longer 1984, or their buddies at Foggy Bottom and elsewhere get tired of the amateur hour antics of pseudo NGOs.
