On chickenhawks:
Do you really want to set the military outside of civilian control? That is where the argument leads, after all – only military members past and present vote on when force is used. (Honestly, I think the military supports the war more than those at home – though most of the guys I’ve talked to are pissed with how it is being managed.) I wouldn’t mind letting the military decide about when to go war that much, actually. Until that time, I’m not going to shut up while Joe Moonbat gets cheer for the insurgents.
On Bush:
Sure, he has made mistakes, but it is insane to think that he is the source of all the problems we face. The idea of everything becoming heavenly after Bush leaves is classic Bush derangement syndrome. People act like he’s some dark god or evil emperor.
Red_in_Blue:
I’d probably be rather ticked at another country telling mine what to do. However, the analogy between Iraq and the US is flawed. First, we can vote for our leaders. I seem to recall the GOP getting hammered in a recent election. When did the Ba’ath party get a similar defeat? Second, we aren’t oppressed like the Shia or Kurds were. I don’t recall Americans being gassed lately.
