There now may be “al qaeda terrorists” in Iraq, but only because the idiot in charge created a huge power vacuum which allowed people to align themselves with this ideology. And I am certain that there ARE foreign born terrorists in Iraq. Again, there weren’t before (abu nidal, blabbity blah blah).

OF F’ing COURSE Iraq was portrayed by the administration as an imminent threat. They said he had WMDs. He didn’t. They invoked images of mushroom clouds. No nukes program. The list goes on and on.
And besides, if you think that stopping a country from maybe, possibly becoming an imminent threat is a justification to go to war, then you can apply that rationale to ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

And re: the chickenhawk argument – I agree. If you think that what’s happening is such an existential threat, then you’d be doing a lot more than munching cheetos and cursing at your computer screens.
