If you have cancer and lack insurance, you liquidate your savings and take out a mortgage on your house to pay for treatment. If that isn’t enough, you ask family and friends to help out. If that still isn’t enough, go to your community and beg for help. Try negotiating with the hospital to lower the cost. They’ll work with you if you’re paying cash; it’s much easier than dealing with the insurance companies anyway. Most importantly- coverage is not health care, and access to a waiting list is not access to health care.
