MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
It doesn’t matter what we think or our political preferences… the bottom line is the country has spoken – we’re not on the right road. Although we’ve made some advances on the ‘war on terror’ our overall failure cannot be ignored.
Following 9/11 we had a opportunity to solidify our position in the world as a leader and shape a global policy towards terrorists etc… Instead we focused and assisted in the capture, trial and execution of thugs who had nothing to do with 9/11 (and we can’t even do that without screwing it up). As a result we’re caught in the middle of an escalating civil war and our leaders won’t or can’t get out of. We have alienated our allies, lost world support and are footing this one on our own.
Our troops have done more than their share time and time again. When will their sacrifice end? How many tours is enough? Honor our troops by bringing them home and giving them good health benefits (not that VA crap), real financial support and anything they need to get there lives back. That’s what we owe them. The rest of us just want a straight answer and a leader you can heal us by just admitting that he made a mistake. And then admitting he lied.
Yes history repeats itself in strange ways – we’ve morphed into the bully and occupier that our forefathers threw out to start our great nation. If we were Iraqis we would be doing the same thing to any occupier of our land. Can you really blame them?
