Dear “Believer”:
I think that between my comments and yours we have come up with something tangible: If, according to Obama, McCain is running for Bush’s third term then Obama is certainly running for Jimmy Carter’s second. That’s a good line I will immediately forward to McCain’s campaign to which I have been contributing. I will also include a copy of Benafsheh’s wonderful letter.
In the meantime let’s hear it for Benafsheh. I got emotional reading her stuff, and so should anybody else who cares about the incredible tragedy that unfolds each and every day in Tehran in present circumstances. Tehran is a city I grew to love back then in the 70′s. I’ll never forget the Christina hotel, the gal behind the bar who taught me farsi, and the fascinating people from all over the world I had a chance to meet there and have exhillerating discussions with. Those were the days.
