I used to date an Air Force Captain who was stationed at Andrews AFB and lived in Lanham, MD. Before I started dating her, whenever she came home in uniform and there was a group of Hispanics gathered outside her apartment building, they ALWAYS verbally harassed her, and it was not about the fact that she was a female, it was pointed comments about her uniform. That stopped when she got a few Air Force 1 security personnel dressed in camo (VERY scary-looking guys, I can assure you) to sneak up behind them when they did this. The lecture they got put the fear of God into them and there was no more trouble.
I’ve seen the Code Pinkos and their ilk at work, and I can say that I have no doubt that there are jerks who would verbally assault members of the military if they thought they could get away with it. Remember what was done to returning military personnel who had served in Viet Nam, they were spat on by hippies. That mind-set still exists in certain segments of the U.S. population.
