When the military talk about ‘taking the war to the enemy’ this is exactly what happened in this case. Nidal wanted out of the army, they refused and instead he was put in a position where he might have to kill fellow Muslims and he knew from his own experience that some (maybe most?) American soldiers are hostile to Muslims to the extent of killing them. So he acted out of sheer rage and anger, but a controlled anger which requires determination to see a job done. I’ve no doubt he was prepared to die for his cause.

Taking the war to the enemy is exactly what Nidal did. Not very convenient when the enemy happens to be yourself, but facts are uncomfortable things and the US should know that it is created enemies and is absolutely hated for what it does around the world. This is why 9/11 happened and it is why Nidal happened.

As long as the US thinks it can just go in and kill people anywhere in the world, so will others just come in and kill Americans. Seems a fair balance to me.
