To Moho @183: None of the remarks I’ve seen here about the Old Testament, as far as I know, are an attempt by anyone to distance themselves from it. As a Christian I firmly embrace the Old Testament as the inspired Word of God and thus authoritative and relevant. Nevertheless, the Old Testament must be read in its historical context. The Old Testament pointed to the coming of the Messiah – Jesus, not Mr. Obama – and found its fulfillment in His life, death, and resurrection. Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law and the prophets but to fulfill them. His fulfillment meant that certain parts of the Old Testament were no longer necessary. Christians no longer follow the sacrificial and ceremonial laws because the death of Jesus made them no longer necessary. Christ also abolished the dietary laws when he spoke to Peter about going to the Gentiles. The early church, guided by Peter, Paul, and James, also loosened the Jewish reguirements for the Gentiles. The moral law of the Old Testament is still in force but the New Testament modified parts of it. Please see my post at #87 for more information.

None of the posts in response to David K. have applauded the actions of Bristol in having premarital sex. Most have adopted the same view of Jesus when he told the women accused of adultry to go forth and sin no more. I find it rather funny that the left often accuses Christians of being intolerant and yet here the leftists are actually angry that Christians show mercy and grace. You and David K. sound more like the self-righteous religious leaders that Jesus often warred against.

If you, David K., and others wish to discuss Christianity and its worldview, I wish you would take them time to educate yourselves about it rather than simply trying to pick an intellectual fight. I take the time to respond to such uninformed comments for two reasons. First, their maybe hope for you so I will take the time to address concerns and legitimate questions. Like I did with David K. in post #87. Second, there maybe some readers who are seeking the truth and might be swayed by your comments. So I write to correct your error and baseless charges. Either way it gives me the opportunity to speak the truth of Christ to a world in error. Thanks for that opportunity.
