Bess and Mamie had a lot more opinions then given credit. They just knew to keep quiet in public. J. Clark is right, when Hillary became part of the administration she opened herself up to scrutiny, as has Michelle Obama. If the candidate’s wife does not want public scrutiny she should not make public political statements.
