I remember a question put to Boris Yeltsin during his visit to the US early in the Clinton administration. An earnest reporter asked him if he consulted wife on important decisions. His answer to the startled reported were “the Russian people elected me to office not my wife.” Perhaps all Presidential candidates should pay attention to Boris and tell their spouses to sit down and shut up.
