Jake, As a conservative (but not a party member of any major party) and as a vet and third generation army brat I salute you and your family. My point was that not all whites are racist, though some obviously are, not all blacks are racist though some obviously are and certainly not all Hispanics, Asians, Inuit, etc. are though some are.
Your problem wasn’t what you were saying per se, it was that you painted everyone with a broad brush (apparently because of your own experience) when an extra fine brush would have done the job. Thus, you get the dander up of a lot of folks who are highly educated, high IQs, but conservative and liberal who would not vote for Mr. Obama because of the hollowness of his rhetoric, the empty suit that he seems to represent, the change he proposes while dodging every question that asks for specifics and because he himself plays the race card by “taking everything off of the table” in terms of what can be discussed.
If you are new at this keep it up, with practice, like at the range with an M-60 or M-16 practice, practice, practice.
