It’s kinda sad when all your major accomplishments are a few decades, if not a whole generation, old. As if the Spaniards should be proud they used to rule the world.
What I care about is NOW (or, to be fair, the last half generation, say 15 years.)
The US clearly used to be at the top of ALL major rankings. But now, the country is lagging. Even in the rather objective ranking of GDP per capita, the US ranks 12/13 according to the WB/IMF, and 17 (!) according to your own CIA.
So if I was an immigrant keen on making a good income, I would immigrate to the seven countries AHEAD of the US in terms of immigration per capita, 6 of all 7 of which have a higher average income than the US.
Oh and taxes? Not a worry. The US has the fifth highest income taxes amongst developed nations. So I would also keep most of my income.
I think I’ll just move to Switzerland (actually, I already did). Cheese is better as well…
