Carter personally managed the problems he helped create: the Ayatollah, the hostages, economic malaise, Soviet aggression. All it took to destroy his legacy of failure was somebody who did not do stupid things.
Obama uses the full weight and majesty of the federal government to build, through legislation, problems that will remain unsolved until the edifice of socialism he is erecting can be destroyed, down to the foundations of Acorn and the naming of the nameless bureaucrats who want to rule your life. This will be the work of a generation, after he is gone, and it will have multiple opportunities for failure of reform, as the leviathan he has created is a self-replicating, omnivorous, unsatisfied beast.
Obama is worse than Carter because what Obama is doing must not just be repudiated, but undone.
