There are good reasons to question Obama’s Christian faith. Andrew Sullivan quotes Obama’s account of his conversion at
What OBama Saw. Now Sullivan reports that he is moved by Obama’s “pellucid” words; however, I was stunned to note that Obama’s conversion lacked any mention of God, Christ, love, or forgivenesss — the hallmarks of Christianity. Instead Obama converted to a liberation story of the Jews. All the language and allusions Obama used were from the Old Testament.
A month ago Sullivan launched a poll on AOL asking “Is Obama Really Christian? Yes/No”. 59% of Americans said No. Of course, internet polls are tricky, but I never saw this poll mentioned anywhere, so I doubt that it was slammed by some right-wing Christian group.
