I’m originally from Pittsburgh. Ever since I can remember, waitresses in Pittsburgh have called me some variation of “honey.” They did it when I was 4 and they do it now that I am on the far side of 40. Mostly older ones, but younger ones sometimes do it too.
I don’t mind a bit, it seems the female equivalent of avuncular. (I looked it up, there is no exact female equivalent.)
Perhaps people should relax a bit, rather than screaming misogyny at the drop of a hat.
