…”Jewish voters might have been drawn to Joe Lieberman..”
If Lieberman were running for President against a Gentile candidate and 90% of Jewish voters were backing him, this Hebrew would be embarrassed and own up to plain prejudice on the part of his co-religionists. And Lieberman is a lovable guy, you want to pinch both cheeks.
I still haven’t got over New York Jewish voters turning out a staunch and vigorous supporter of Jewish causes like Senator Al D’amato in favor of a braying jackass like Chuck Schumer. But the Jewish tilt for Schumer–as undeniably prejudiced as it was foolish and self-defeating–wasn’t anything like 90%.
If Jews did back a hypothetical Lieberman against a hypothetical Goy by 90%, we’d hear grumbling about tribalism. Jews always sticking together. Looking out for their own. Exerting undue influence. Swinging their weight. Putting in the fix.
Figuring out why people do what they do in the privacy of a voting booth is reading tea leaves. My impression is that sexism, both casual and vicious, has been far more openly expressed than racism so far this campaign season.
