Non sequitur. A lot of folks who want to limit legal immigration aren’t operating from a racial worldview, but a protectionist one.
I’ve been in high tech for over 30 years, and in that entire time, people have run for leadership positions in the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers on a platform of cutting off visas for technologists. I don’t recall anyone ever making it an issue of race, but rather one of economics: importing workers with much lower wage expectations than domestically-trained engineers.
I don’t doubt that there are racists who object to legal immigration, but that doesn’t mean that everyone who objects to legal immigration is a racist. For the record, I favor legal immigration — and I strenuously oppose allowing illegal immigrants to benefit from violating our immigration laws.
