Sweetie, How Dare You Criticize Obama?

“ABC News highlighted an earlier use of “sweetie” by Obama on the campaign trail, telling a woman, “Sweetie, if I start with a picture I will never get out of here,” and “Sweetie, if I start doing autographs I just won’t be -… I am really late.”

It may not be arrogance, per se, but a short temper, an irritability, on some occasions when he is too tired with questions which interrupt his concentration. As in this example:

” Democratic White House contender Barack Obama could not hide his irritation Monday when asked by a reporter what he thought about former president Jimmy Carter’s meeting with Hamas last week.

“Why can’t I just eat my waffle?” the Illinois senator said as he ate breakfast in Scranton, Pennsylvania, according to MSNBC television pictures.

Pressed again for an answer, he replied: “Just let me eat my waffle.”

To me it suggests a certain lack of self-awareness. It is remediable with experience, no doubt, but does point again to the simple fact that Obama is very green in politics and lacks the necessary experience. Irritability or arrogance in and off themselves are not a sin in a leader. They can be dealt with. But the lack of experience is something that time can cure, but not in a president who will be leader of the free world almost as soon as he is elected. He or she should come fully prepared to his position. Learning while already a president may demand too harsh a price from all sors of people and countries.
