I watch a minister on Sunday mornings (Jim Tolle) who uses the phrase “sweetheart” like a California car salesman. He does it with a broad grin and a hint of mischief and it is slyly effective.
When Obama does it, it has that condescending ring to it that tells you he thinks you’re inferior.
It all depends on what is in ones heart.
