As usual with Democratic Party activists, Mr. Navarette is obsessed with race. Of course he sees himself and Senator Obama as being against racism while arguing for racist policies. Because they are members of one of the Democrats’ favored groups they simply cannot be racist. When a greater percentage of whites vote for a white candidate than members of some favored “minority” vote for a member of their group then I’ll consider white racism as pervasive as Black or Hispanic racism.

Racial progress in America is held hostage by the Democratic Party which needs racial tension to survive. Without overwhelming votes from certain racial groups, the Democrats would be a minor party if not a footnote. Any progress toward a color blind society threatens Democrats. Senator Obama needs that tension as does Senator Clinton. Their faithful underlings, like Mr Navarette, can be counted on to provoke, irritate and generally stir up animosity. Then blame the irritation and animosity of their opponents.
