There is a more simple truth in this that transcends left or right, conservative or liberal. Those who shout the loudest, get the most upset and attack with the most vitriol are usually those who have adopted beliefs that are the most un-provable, un-supportable by any empirical facts or unachievable based on calm reasoning. The more unsupported by evidence a belief is, the more ardently and vehemently it is must be promoted in compensation.

Observe that although left-liberals are in power (and about to wreck havoc with all of their legislation and programs IMO), they are still in great numbers red-faced angry over anything that challenges their belief systems.

The rise in angry and uncivil conservative and libertarian bloggers can be partially explained by the affect of the left being put in a position to force the consequences of their beliefs on others. In this case the recipient “non believers” can get pretty upset as well.

You can see this principle writ large in various religious conflicts around the world.
