Good article, but I think you can boil the differences down to a few basics:
1. The “right” believes in individual responsibility, hard work, and competition in the workplace; if you succeed, great; if you fail, try again.
2. The “left” believes in taking wealth from those who have worked hard and giving it to those who, for whatever reason, can’t (or won’t) work within the existing system.
By basically stealing from the most productive through extortionist tax rates and then “spreading it around,” they solidify their position of power (and wealth) while creating a society where everyone subsists (see Europe for a good example of this.) Forcing the citizens to spend most of their free time standing in line for basic products and services helps keep them docile (think waiting four or five hours to see your primary care physician.)
It’s all about the elitists having complete control over every aspect of everyone’s life . . . and they are absolutely ruthless in the means that they will use to accomplish their ends.
Look at the number of dead caused by leftist regimes (Mao, Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Chavez, Ho Chi Min) and it’s in the hundreds of millions . . . . . which is the reasonable outcome when man rejects God and tries to replace Him with man and man-made institutions.
Which also explains the extreme violence that you always see from the “left”; look at Pelosi and Reid calling those will legitimate concerns over the deficit “Nazis,” “Fascists,” “rednecks” . . . . really chilling.
Can you imagine the response when Bush was president if Republican congressmen and senators had done the same thing? The MSM would’ve blown a gasket; every headline would’ve been a hemorrhage of ink calling for their immediate impeachment.
We live in interesting times.
