Hillary Flunks Out

I’ve never understood why Hillary took the position of SoS in the first place. You are right–she could have been a real force in the Senate, where she was widely respected and could have continued to build a political power base. Now she is but a marginal player in a faltering administration that is quickly becoming a laughingstock on the foreign policy front.

Over the past few weeks I’ve heard/read many wistful comments intimating that the country would be far better off today with Hillary in the Oval Office. There has actually been speculation that she is carefully watching Obama’s declining poll numbers and considering a possible primary challenge in 2012. If she was indeed looking for an exit from this hapless and increasingly unpopular admininstration, she missed a fantastic opportunity with Obama’s embarrassing about-face on missile defense in Eastern Europe. I was half hoping she’d announce that she disagreed so strongly with his decision that she was resigning on principle.

It couldn’t have left her in any worse position that she is in now. Anyone familiar with Barry and his arrogance and ego always knew that he would blame her for the foreign policy failures, and take the credit for the successes. Not that it looks like there will be any of the latter.
