I’m reminded of our 2000 move from Houston to Indy. In Indy, we occasionally listened to the Tejano music station KQQK. The DJs would seamlessly switch from Spanish to English and back in the same sentence. Shortly after coming to Indy, I was driving around checking out the radio stations on the dial. Lo and behold, a Mexican station in Indiana! Like I never left Houston. There is now a Latino business district along West Washington, tire dealers and all. The powers-that-be should discourage dependency on government and encourage free enterprise, which is the real way for the new arrivals to get ahead.

The failed model, that of dependency, has caused many problems among those local African Americans and others who bought into it. The local Democratic Party machine that promotes dependency has cashed in nicely but has not truly helped its constituents.
