the responses to Chrenkoff’s article above and inevitably after mine, in support of “Birtherism”, only go to show that Birtherism is alive and well on the Right, and it is craziness, averse to reason and logic.

One can argue that 9-11 Trutherism is more sinister, and perhaps it is, but in terms of the non-reasoning behind both conspiracies, the wishful thinking and trivial evasions, the wilful denial of what the anti-Truthers and anti-Birthers are actually saying in rebuttal etc – it is the same refusal to face cold facts that drives all false conspiracy thinking. So ultimately there is no difference. Plus Chrenkoff fails to recognise that by focusing on the Birther nonsense, it distracts from Obama’s disastrous domestic and foreign policies which are leading America and the world to disaster.

We are on the precipice and Birthers are blabbering on about a non-existent conspiracy, and the dire straits we are in continue to worsen. In this sense Birther conspiracy theorising is just as destructive as 9-11 Trutherism for it distracts from pressing issues that affect us all, and so aggravates them.
