Wearing a flag on one’s lapel does not make one a patriot. Putting one’s hand over one’s heart during the Pledge of Allegiance does not make one a patriot. Participating in this democracy, questioning the government, calling out the government when it is wrong, exercising one’s rights, helping one’s neighbor irrespective of race, religion, creed, etc. are what patriotism is about. Evolving and advancing society, building relationships in a global environment are patriotism. Facing state enemies with diplomacy first and military action second is patriotism. As a former Army Ranger, I know this to be true. If I can accomplish my objective without firing a shot, that is great!
Obama being “endorsed” by Hamas is not an issue. Hamas does not govern the United States nor control what Americans think. You all on this blog give Hamas way too much credit and influence in the US. Shame on you. Hamas is not the problem, Iraq and Afghanistan are not the problem. The problem is Iran. With that in mind, we should have communication with Tehran and try a diplomatic approach (with finger on the trigger) to resolve issues. This is not negotiating with terrorists. This is exercising moral fortitude. We can easily wipe Iran off the map and it knows that.
