History:
During the first weeks of 2000, Sen. Jim Jeffers was snubbed by the White House because he would’t vote with Bush 100%. He wasn’t invited to the ceremony honoring Teacher of the Year who happened to be from Vermont. This infuriated Jeffers enough to cause him to switch parties to independent and give control back to the Dems.
