Palin’s Advocacy: The Turning Point in Health Care Reform Debate
I appreciate Palin’s comments on this subject. She was dead on(pun intended). However, her “advocacy” was not the turning point in the debate.
I fear the Palin supporters are appearing starstruck and attributing characteristics and accomplishments to their idol just as the Obama sychophants have done. To do so only invites disappointment and defeat. Nobody is as perfect as their respective fans seem to suggest.
The plain ol’ American patriots who showed up at the town hall meetings en masse were the catalyst for the downfall of the public option(that was the main point of the dissent, right?). I think the best moment was when that woman got major MSM coverage at the Specter/Sebelius town hall when she asked Specter why he thought the government could run the health care system when they couldn’t even manage the cash for clunkers program. That was the turning point and it snowballed from there.
Palin’s comments were important to be sure. The “death panel” debate will definitely be remembered, but had the throngs of regular Americans not turned out to have their voices heard (which they were doing way before the death panel comment) this battle would have never ended in the defeat of Obama’s government takeover.
Having said all that, I am sure most people don’t have a problem giving Palin credit for speaking out on that issue, but giving her overwhelming credit for the turning point of the debate begins to sound like the Obamatrons who worship The One.
