Many people can’t stand this guy because he has political views and favors policies with which they cannot agree. Fair enough. Each to his/her own. That’s just politics when all is said and done, and frankly tomorrow is another day, as someone once said.
I can’t abide this guy precisely because of his personal ‘values’ such as the one displayed by this statement. ‘Over-riding’. As Carla rightfully points out this is a completely toxic and vile formulation. It appears at first glance to be a vigorous denunciation of the ‘racist’ charges, but in actuality, it is nothing of the kind. Rather it is just a more ‘nuanced’ elaboration of that nasty and destructive canard. What the President of ‘some of the people’ really stated was this —- I can’t say that the MAIN reason people oppose my special brand of goodness is RACISM but , it’s IMPORTANTLY there somewhere. WE all know that, but since I am the President, I will make a statement that gets me off the hook but at the same time does absolutely nothing to fundamentally deny the accusations.
I just can’t stand the guy. Not because he’s black —- but because he’s ALWAYS just like this. Always.
