Why assume that the President’s comments were “aimed at a United States Senator” rather than some Israeli politicians, who believe the same thing? (Or some French politicians, or some German politicians, or some British politicians. . . .) President Bush was disparaging the “foolish delusion” of appeasement, which is not the exclusive possession of any U.S. Senator.
