Biofuels make sense only if the alternative means letting it go to waste or storing it. Remember that in the old days, midwest farmers made whiskey out of their excess corn cause it was cheaper to ship than ears of corn. Most greenies acknowledged years ago that corn to ethanol was not a good solution due to the simple equation that the energy needed to grow and produced almost cancelled out the energy extracted. As far as environmental catastrophes goes, let’s not forget that war is pretty bad for the environment too.
