I welcome the passage of a no GOP/strictly Democrat healthcare reform bill. Too bad they lack the sincere belief in their plan, leadership, and nads to go for it. If they did, it would be done already. They won. Exert your power cowards.

I’m with you. Were I to find myself in a situation where I could reverse the damage SS and Medicare will do to my generation (X), I would do it over the Left’s caterwauling in a heartbeat. But, that’s because I actually believe in what I think is best (i.e., let the market sort it out and leave the politicians to argue over where to put stop signs, which is about all they’re good for).

Yes, a major health care bill passed only by Democratic votes would provide this country with a great moment of clarification; its failure to pass (or even ever get completely written) would be equally clarifying. The Democrats must now put up or shut up–either they really believe they are saving the country from ruin, and are ready to take the hit for it, if it comes to that, or they haven’t, for a long time, been about anything more than scapegoating the rich, Republicans and Christians.

Meanwhile, the highly articulate and organized conservative opposition will continue to make life very difficult for them, no matter what happens.
