ObamaCare: First, Do Some Harm — Then, Exploit the Crisis
“Conservatives keep bagging on the European model even though Europeans in even their poorest countries live longer than Americans.”
Oh, sheesh, this bollocks argument again.
You really think using a gross statistic with dozens of uncontrolled variables is meaningful?
Fact: “Mean Life Expectancy at Birth” stats include all causes of death many of which (most of which under age 40) have nothing whatsoever to do with healthcare. The principal factors are infant mortality (zero to do with h/c, and overreported in the US); and the appalling homicide rate among minority males under 35. At age 40, US life expectancy is just as great as Europeans’. At age 60, it’s longer than every other country save Sweden. For European-Americans, life expectancy even at birth is higher than all nations except Sweden and Japan.
When it comes to outcomes across the broad spectrum of treatable conditions (cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc etc, not to mention quality-of-life matters such as orthopedics) there is no nation in the world can touch us.

Libtroll: are you actually claiming it was a “lie” to point out that British doctors have accused the NHS of denying osteoporosis treatments?
