One thing to remember is that the bad guys of the world have learned from the collapse of the USSR and the communist government of Poland. They can’t risk any kind of real reform or any kind of weakness. They will stand their ground to their deaths (like North Korea) rather than release their stranglehold on their countries. (Which makes the PRC a verrry interesting case in the degree of control the government has and exercises.)
