Team Obama’s message to seniors seems to be: “Please die early, so we can reduce Medicare and Social Security costs — and tax the bejeebers out of your estate.” (It’s a real governmental two-fer: lowered expenses, increased revenue.)
Similarly, to wounded military vets being treated at VA hospitals, he implies: “Thanks for your service. Now, would you please do your duty one last time? Please spare your country oodles of cash — by refusing medical treatment.”
Dems once claimed to be the voice of the voiceless, the champions of the powerless and downtrodden. But Obama (and the people surrounding him, such as Rahm and Ezekiel Emanuel) are nothing less than callous toward many of the most vulnerable in American society.
They seem to value — as Rubin points out — the communal over the individual. It’s as if we citizens were no more than bees in a colonly, ants in a farm. To them, people have no intrinsic worth. Their only value is as contributing members of a societal whole. It all fits nicely within their socialistic philosophy.
