One may “disavow” many things in public, and not mean it. It’s funny how so many of Obama’s inner circle disavow so many things that they have said in the past. The question is, is there any reason to believe them?
I read your quotation – in the context of other statements – as somebody realizing that in order to propagate his beliefs he must hide them. Far from changing his mind he is simply going underground.
