Ms. Gould seems to feel that since she does not possess a conspiratorial view of Obama as a secret Muslim bent on destroying the West, she therefore subscribes to the reasonable, fair-minded view.
Maybe some of us don’t want to bank Israel’s security on the concept of “time will tell.”
Democrats like Clinton, Kerry and now Obama have been known to switch positions and waiver on many issues.
The fact that some people overdo their criticism of the president on Israel and other policy disputes has nothing to do with whether Israel can count on the Obama administration’s support when the moment finally comes and Ahmedinijad has acquired the bomb. Military action would cause quite the upheaval, which is why even Bush leaned on Israel not to act as of yet.
I doubt the Israeli pilots who will risk their lives and their freedom take solace in Ms. Gould’s tears over what Obama has done for her undying devotion to civil rights. I suspect they might have a bit more confidence if they had a Republican administration with the likes of John Bolton in their corner.
But the public rationalizations of the likes of Alan Dershowitz and Carol Gould are always an interesting read.
