You forgot another “environmental” disaster, MTBE. The California Legislature forced oil companies to put this additive into gasoline. In a few short years it invaded ground water supplies, especially in the Lake Tahoe area. Now that it has been hastily pulled from use there is a huge coverup over the magnitude of the problem and the possibility that it has caused cancers in many people. They still don’t know what to do with it. The spotted owl started the forest fight, now they will try using the polar bear and that will finally shut us down as a country if they do.
