To Rick: yeah, right, let’s not blame at all the guy who rightfully (surprisingly) invaded Afghanistan over their support and protection of bin Laden, but then pulled back in order to start an utterly bogus war with Iraq, all the while as the banking system and the economy at large were rolling merrily along towards a cliff, unwatched and pushed along by multi-billion dollar crooks and bankers & brokers addicted to Vegas-style derivative gambling.
If I had to point to one thing that showcases how craven and maliciousness the right wing is, and how easily they are finding suckers, it’s Malkin’s “Culture of Corruption” pile of BS shaped like a book. That was published just six months after Obama took office, which meant she started writing it…when now? And it’s filled with the same old twisted dumbf*ckey you would expect from someone who once suggested that John Kerry deliberately shot himself in Vietnam to get a medal.
In a sane society, vile people like her would be left babbling loudly at street corners and in parks, but these days, not only does she get to promote her book-shaped object on talk shows like it’s something real, and without much commentary by hosts too lazy to peer inside it’s dark recesses, but it actually gets to be a bestseller on Amazon and the NYT list, with reader comments by people apparently unaware of the purpose or even concept of “search engine.”
And before anyone responds with something dopey like “Where is she wrong?” — the real question is “Where is she right?” Apparently, according the Malkin, a job promotion that brings greater pay is a sure sign of corruption, and that hiring someone who was once put on probation for shoplifting during his college years outweighs the blood of the million or so Iraqi civilians killed to date (don’t argue with this number — it’s from the most reliable research to date.)
But Malkin is no more than a symptom of the times we live in and the sort of obstructive, if not destructive people Obama has to deal with, above and beyond fixing up an awful lot of things that have gone or were going seriously wrong.
